about

The third album from Scold Recordings saw releases from ROb Morris, as Romor and Don Heresema, as Kreecha.

It also included a full release from Sweden's MIR crew.

Kreecha's take on Moombahton has won him admirers from around the globe. Combining crunchy hip-hop based beats with glitch overtones, his razor sharp production re-enforces the mantra of "Quality to Survive".

Under the guise of Platinum Mules he’s already had countless breakbeat releases, played by the likes of BBC Radio1’s Annie Nightingale, Plump DJ’s James Zabiela and Meat Katie, and those influences can be felt in the heavyweight Moombahton that he produces.

Crinklecuts has progressive undertones, but it's the old skool flavour of the leadline and underlying morphed vocals that make this track soar. Every sound is distinct and owns it's own space. From the spacey disco guitars to the appregiated lead line, this track evokes a feeling of Dub meets Disco in a year 2020 soundclash. This type of quality production ensures that wherever you play this, it's going to sound incredible.

Kreecha, of all the Scold family, has the strongest bass music undertones. He currently plays regularly between the UK and Europe where he has made his mark as a turntablist spinning Glitch Hop, Moombahton, House, Dub Step, Kuduro and Trap. Catch Kreecha and guests in the Boiler Room, every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month on www.nuskoolbreaks.co.uk radio.

Cellophane-wrapper fresh, yet as familiar as your mum's Sunday roast, Dark Candy by Disgraceland instantly reminds you why you still give a damn about dance music. The achingly current tropical laidback beat of Moombahton sets things in motion, allowing washes of glistening techno and acid flourishes build, creating a cavernous expanse of EDM perfection.

Disgraceland, the recording alias of Leicester-based Moombahton produced John Stanhope, has rapidly established himself as one of the key men to take this new scene forward, specialising in deep, techy joints that are helping to move the party banger sound to more forward-spaces.

Since forming Scold recordings with Kreecha and Hoodwink 12 months ago, he's featured on several of the largest Moombahton compilations, been on remix duties for Hoodwink and El Cuco's Mendez and put out two releases on Scold. This hasn't gone unnoticed with Dave Nada recently name checking

An originator and innovator of the UK Moombahton sound, Rob Morris has released under the moniker 'Hoodwink' and more recently Я0M0R as well as co-founding Scold Recordings. Cutting his teeth mixing Detroit techno and breakbeat in the early 00's Morris soon incorporated his love for all forms of music into his sets yet was still was not satisfied.

Jump forward some years of being locked away learning production skills and the tempo has dropped and the sound-scape deepened. Blurring the boundaries between genres around the 110bpm mark, Я0M0R's tracks are emotive, moody, retrospective and deep.

With Sound 80, ROM0R delivers a prime slab of deep house infused Moombahton. This is a track that draws from the dance floors of Ibiza, as much as from the US. With a grooving mid bass and perfectly executed vocal glitches, this is a massive tune that is going to slay dance floors.

Previous releases under the Hoodwink moniker include an EP on Ninthwave Records USA, inclusion on the seminal 'New Wave' compilation by Generation Bass with high praise from a range of blogs including 110bpm, Walmer Convenience, Moombah+ and more.

Geek Boy's back again with another perfectly executed piece of precision Moombahcore. 'Attaque Del Lobo' is as complex as it is smooth with jagged edges coated in Novocaine, so when they slice you don't feel the cut. This is Moombahcore that doesn't rely on brute force to make you listen - its down to the quality of the beats. This is a tune that appeals to all Moombaheads.

Known by the alias Geek Boy, Al Swettenham is a Manchester based composer, producer and remixer. He has worked with a diverse range of artists including godfather of nu-skool breaks Adam Freeland and UK rave veteran MC Kinky and his fusion of retro 8-bit melodies and 110bpm tropical bass have caught the ear of Radio 1 DJ’s Mistajam and Kissysellout. Now part of the Rebel Sonix crew and currently collaborating with Scolds very own Kreecha on a multi genre E.P, Geek Boy’s services are very much in demand.

Having featured on the EP Songs From A Small Island, the very first release of Scold Recordings, he is very much on the forefront of the UK Moombahton scene. He loves Batman comics, video games and Manchester.

New to the Scold stable but very much established producers with remix duties for the likes of Ninja Tune, Shout and Dirty Dubs we present The MIR crew. Hailing from different musical backgrounds but with the same interest in moving the dance floor, whether it be Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Hip Hop or Moombahton - MIR come correct.

With the combined talents of Boj Lucky, Ljudas and Boris Lukic the crew have worked alongside artists such as UK Apache, Top Cat, MC Spyda and Million Stylez. With a festival and club appearances spanning from Shanghai to Leeds, it’s easy to see these guys are a production crew which are both versatile and hugely in demand.

Willito Set’s the scene as we arrive at seemingly normal cocktail party. Things quickly pick up the pace, as we saunter around a haunting piano lead, next to the generously laid out Moombah percussion and marinated digi stabs. Lazer Bass hits dash in an out like a hostess looking for her best salad spoons. We mix and mingle till the arrival of mariachi style horns and half time beats which eventually throws us back into a crescendo of party vibes and happy times. Do you wanna come to the MIR party? Then we suggest you press play!
